I’d been out taking photos in Avebury with friends. The light had been rather dull all evening with cloud cover flattening many of the photos we had taken. We decided to part ways, and as I drove the road from Avebury to Wiltshire the sun set and I was treated to an incredible spectacle. I had to pull over abruptly, the sun was descending at pace. I clambered to the top of a small hill to avoid the main road with all its traffic, and took this photo. Just to the right of this frame were some hay bales that lit up in blue light, as if the colours had been changed with a split right down the middle.
