Bird of prey flying display

Owl

Muncaster castle is worth a visit on any day, whatever the weather. I went with my sister and nephews on a drizzly bank holiday Monday for the Muncaster Festival 2017. Having read up on what was available beforehand I’d somehow missed that there was a birds of prey flying display, and we excitedly went along, not totally sure what to expect. It was a fascinating display with owls and hawks flying in incredible proximity (literally over the heads) of the astounded audiences. The whole thing was accompanied by a very dramatic soundtrack which added to the tense atmosphere. This was an ideal opportunity to get my camera out and attempt to take photos of (I would usually use the word shoot here but it seems a little insensitive) the birds mid-flight! I was unsuccessful. They flew at such pace, darting all over the sky – for an amateur like me it was impossible. I settled for capturing this owl, perched on this trunk, about to take flight. His/her eyes were incredible!
