Through the centre of Toulouse you have small connecting canals which makes it possible to navigate around and link up to the River Garonne which travels though the heart of the city. On a hot, sunny day, as it was when I visited the shade of the trees provided a welcome, cool break. The boats go at regular times from the centre of the town and are a reasonable price for the amount of time spent on board. It’s certainly a great way to explore. It is worth noting that the Tourist office in Toulouse was one of the best I have been to whilst on my travels. The staff were incredibly helpful and the free information provided (including a map) was well worth the trip. Go when you first arrive so you can make use of the tourism pass which offers great discounts and will save you money.
