When visiting cities around the world, I think one of the nicest things to do is step out your front door in the morning, fully explore the city and return, tired, but fulfilled. I choose always to do this by foot and don’t worry too much about letting myself get lost. Toulouse was a wonderful city to do this in with its picturesque 16th-century medieval architecture. Having spent a couple of days visiting the main tourist spots, I ventured further afield, through pink terracotta neighbourhoods (why Toulouse has it’s la Ville Rose nickname, and stumbled across this Japanese Garden called Jardin Compans Caffarelli. On a budget this park makes a beautiful spot for a mid exploration picnic and was as intended, very calm and relaxing. Definitely worth a visit.
